Hi Guys,
I'm in Paris this week. Actually by the time you read this I'll probably be back in London. But I've spent the first few days in Gaye Paris writing my book the Lifestyle Shift. And the good news is it is all done. I've taken all the ideas and brought them together- so it won't be long and you'll see it in the book shops. Woohoo!
Thanks to everyone who helped us with the survey. The title is going to be "The Lifestyle Shift- From Frantic to Freedom in Five Easy Steps" - by popular demand. Very exciting.
I've found being over here really humbling. Getting to live my dream of writing a book in my favourite city in the world, on making a Lifestyle Shift, my favourite topic in the world has been extraordinary. Why else do you start speaking if not to enjoy the lifestyle it brings right?
So next week I'll bring you up to speed with everything. Otherwise- the newsletter this week comes from the team back in London.
I believe Greg is behind the camera making his "Behind the Scenes" debut... please welcome him and if you love his work send in lots of emails so we can get him featured regularly in "Greg's corner!"

Register Your Name as a Domain
- Get your Own name registered as a web site or domain name
- Allows your site to come up when people search for your name
- If you can't get your own name (eg. if someone already has it) get a variation of your name - eg use middle name or initial, or title
- Check the company's Terms of service or rules when you register to ensure there isn't any unfair rule, like they will take your domain off you if there is a spam complaint
Create Your own Blog on Your Own Domain Name

This week I have asked our own in-house techie Vanessa, who looks after all of our web sites to show you how easily you can set up your own blog on your own domain name.
As a speaker you should have a website in your own domain name so people can find you. By setting up your own Wordpress blog hosted on your own domain, search engines will list your website at the top of searches in your own name.
Here are the steps to follow to create a blog in your name on your own hosting account.
- Register your own domain name – for a domain ending in .com a cheap provider is godaddy.com (Important Tip: buy only the domain from there and say no to any other offers they give you – they make their money by trying to upsell you to other products which you won’t need for this process).
- Hosting: Go to Hostgator and set up a hosting account. Choose their “baby” hosting account at only $9.95 per month as it has the most flexibility and you can add additional websites later if needed.
- Point Your Domain to your Hosting: Once you have finished their registration process, you will receive an email with your hosting login details and DNS address. The next step is to delegate your domain from godaddy to Hostgator. This is just so that your new domain www.YourName.com will work with your hosting at hostgator.
To do this, login to your account at godaddy.com and go to manage domains. Then it is just a matter of pasting your DNS details from your hostgator email to your godaddy account. (Note it can take up until 48 hours for your new domain to work on your hostgator account, but in my experience it is usually active within a few hours) - Login To Cpanel: Now it is time to login to your hostgator cpanel account. You would have received these details in your registration email from them.
- Install Wordpress: Once in cpanel, go to the area toward the bottom called Software/Services and click on the Fantastico deluxe link. This is how you install your wordpress blog on your own hosting.
- Once in fantastico, find the wordpress link in the left menu and click on it. This will bring up wordpress in the main area of the page. Now just click on New installation.
- You will now have a screen to allow you to fill in your details.
a) Your domain name should appear in the first drop down box.
b) Leave the directory box blank
c) Under admin access data, choose a username and password (make a note of these as you will need them later).
d) Under base configuration, choose your admin nickname, this is the name that will show on your posts on your blog. Also make sure your email address is correct. Lastly choose your web site name and description, this can be anything you like. - Click the button “Install Wordpress”
- The next screen will show you some details, quickly review these and click “Finish Installation” and Voila! Your web site will be set up. You may also like to get the details of your login sent to your own email address.
- Now go to the address on the screen (something like www.YourName.com/wp-admin) and login using the details you entered at step 7c.
- Customise Wordpress: The last step is to customise your blog theme. Under appearance (in the left side menu of your blog admin), click on add new theme. From here choose a colour and style your like, and wordpress will search for relevant themes. It is then just a matter of clicking install on a theme you like. Once installed, click on themes in the left menu and click activate on your new theme.
- You are now set up with your own blog in your own name and can start making posts!
