Stand Still
There is nothing worse than a speaker who dithers and wanders aimlessly about the stage
Standing still makes you feel more grounded…
…which gives you more confidence…
…which helps you to earn more money

Be Strong, and Calm, and Centered. It makes you audience feel more comfortable with you.

A really effective way to establish credibility with your audience is to use testimonials
If you can get a testimonial from a known name in the industry then it will go a long way to establishing you as an expert in the mind of your audience.
Written testimonials are OK – but video testimonials are better

I have a real gem of a tip for you today. It’s about reconnecting with your passion. I get so many people asking me how they can find their passion I thought I’d give you this little nugget.

Passion is that driving force – that oomph that enables you to just keep doing what it is that you do

It enables you to connect with your audience because if you speak from your passion your audience will feel an emotional connection with you

If you don’t have passion – you won’t inspire passion in your audience

Reconnecting with your passion

Every week – for the next 12 weeks

Take 2 hours per week and do something you loved as a child

Just you – no family, no friends, no spouse, no children

Just you and your inner child

Connecting with your passion is not something you will figure out in your head – it is something you will feel with your heart

Once you have involved your audience and met them where they are at and you have…

…inspired them by painting out a vision for them of their dreams. Your next step is to…

Invite them to take action

Come from a more permissive (not submissive) place

Your product is the vehicle to take them from where they are to where they want to be

You can always come back to these three steps:

Involve

Inspire

Invite

Back at the beginning of January I wrote about a whole load of techniques to break the ice with your audience – but I haven’t actually shown you it in action yet. So I thought I’d show you a little sneak preview of breaking the ice IN ACTION at my Presentation Profits Intensive seminar. Remember – there is one coming up in Melbourne 19th-21st March. Click here to find out more:
Presentation Profits Intensive

The first few moments when you are up on stage are critical to
how well your audience receives you.

There can be a lot of pressure on you to make them feel comfortable quickly otherwise they’ll switch off

You need to Break the Ice and make them connect with each other.

There are many ways to do this, and a great way is to get people to get up out of their seats and go and greet five people they have never met like long lost friends.

It’s a lot of fun and it takes the pressure off you, so you can compose yourself ready to be the awesome speaker that you are!

Every seven minutes you need to elicit a state change in your audience

It can be with a MASSAGE, a HIGH FIVE or a turn to your neighbour to say something complimentary and fun

In order to know when to do this you can have a reminder on your autocue or just watch your audience’s faces for that glazed look.

People can only absorb content for so long before they need a shift in state and since you are ‘leading your audience’ it is your job to
‘lead their state’ – otherwise they’ll do it themselves!

Use state changes to keep your audience alert, focussed, and receptive to your content.
